ALTAR SERIES

All the sculptures in the altar series are made from various clay bodies and go through two separate firings. The first is called a bisque firing, where the clay dries out and becomes porous, preparing it for glaze. After this firing, a glaze is applied (or not, depending on the desired effect) and then the piece undergoes a second firing, often referred to as a glaze or high firing. This process hardens the glaze, transforming it into glass, and bonds the clay particles, making the sculpture strong. Cool science stuff!
Some of the pieces also feature crystal companions. I carefully select crystals based on their energies, meditating on how their properties align with the sculpture’s energy. The crystals amplify the piece's presence in your space, setting the tone and often serving as the inspiration for the form of each sculpture.

Each piece in this series was created in a flow state, with no clear direction other than to craft one-of-a-kind functional sculptures for your altar space, wherever that may be—whether on your dresser, a nook in your bookshelf, or your nightstand. Before sculpting each piece, I created a grounding space to meditate. In this mediative space, with a clear mind, I open myself energetically to allow images or shapes to come through. Overall, each piece was inspired by nature in one form or another—shell textures, spirals, coral, and mushrooms, to name a few.

All orders are shipped within 2-3 days of purchase. Shipping will be through USPS, and a tracking number will be sent to your email. Once a package is with USPS, I am not responsible for lost or stolen packages. If your item arrives damaged, please email me within 2 business days at sher@sheridanscifres.com, and I will promptly work with you to resolve the issue. All pieces are one of a kind, so in the event of damage, it may take up to 2 months to replicate the original piece to the best of my ability.
I do my best to source and use materials that are fully compostable. If something isn’t compostable, rest assured it’s fully recyclable. I never ship with plastic unless I’m reusing materials to prevent them from ending up in the landfill. If that happens, I’ll include a card in your package explaining my shipping materials.
I’m highly conscious of the environmental footprint of everything I consume, so my shipping will be minimal but efficient. You won’t find multiple cards or random stickers in your package—just what’s necessary. I do this to minimize waste and reduce the need for sourcing new raw materials.
